National Rescue Dog Day 2022: History And Quotes About Rehoming Pooches
The kind of love that the dogs hold in their hearts can only be described as divine. With them, they bring joy, endless giggles, and days filled with fun and frolic.
People, who love pets, will always leap at the first chance to bring a dog home and it really takes a big heart to care for one that has been abandoned on the streets by its owner for unknown reasons. Every year, thousands of such innocent pooches are left on the streets to fend for themselves.
Keeping in mind the fact that the canines are subjected to horrific abuse by humans and even to death due to lack of food on the streets, some nonprofit organizations have taken it on themselves to find new homes for the abandoned dogs.
To honor the kind initiative taken by these Good Samaritans, May 20 is commemorated as the National Rescue Dogs Day in 2009. The concept of the day is attributed to Lisa Wiehebrink, an author as well as the founder of "Tails That Teach." Most of Wiehebrink's works focus on humans and their connection with animals, as well as the need to instill love for animals in young children, which in turn helps them grow up into animal-loving adults. Wiehebrink proclaimed the day in 2009 after she rescued her dog Cooper and several others.
To mark this year's run for the occasion, here are some quotes about rescuing pups that are sure to touch the heart.
