National Running Day 2012: The Lazy Person's Guide To Celebrating With Running Videos
Today is National Running Day, but with nearly 150 million Americans either overweight or obese, many of us will eschew the idea of marking the occasion by running.
Among adults ages 20 and up, 78 million men and 71.3 million women are either overweight or obese, according to the latest statistics from the American Heart Association.
Of those 149.3 million American adults, 75 million are obese - 34.9 million men and 40.1 million women.
It's not just adults that have problems with the battle of the bulge.
One in three children between 2 years old and 19 are either overweight or obese, including 32.1 percent of boys and 31.3 percent of girls.
One in six children in that are in that age range are obese, according to American Heart Association statistics, with 17.8 percent of boys and 15.9 percent of girls struggling with obesity.
