National Scotch Day: Quotes About The Iconic Spirit From Scotland
Every year, National Scotch Day is celebrated on July 27 to honor the iconic whisky distilled in Scotland.
Scotch whisky is extremely popular not only because it's a proponent of Scotland's rich alcohol heritage, but also due to the fact that it comes with a smoother flavor profile than other sippable spirits.
In order to be called scotch, a whiskey has to undergo multiple layers of modifications, starting from being fermented from malted barley, aged in oak barrels for upwards of at least three years, and finally being infused with rich amounts of alcohol, but not more than 94.8%.
The fundamental reason behind observing National Scotch Day is to commemorate the passage of a law in 1876, which made it illegal to produce and sell whisky without a valid government license. Since then, the day has come to be observed as a means to celebrate the iconic scotch whisky that is both great to taste and has a range of health benefits, including improving cognitive functions and decreasing anxiety levels.
