National Video Games Day 2016: 5 Ways To Celebrate Fun Holiday On Playstation 4, Xbox One And More Consoles
Monday marks National Video Games Day! This is the day to celebrate and reminiscence about video games that made your childhood complete and continue to bring you happiness to this day.
Dating back to 1971, "Computer Space," created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney was the first commercially sold, coin-operated video game, National Day Calendar reported. The following year, Magnavox Odyssey became the first home console.
In the next few years that followed, Atari’s Pong became a major hit in both arcades and homes, inspiring companies to create their own systems and versions of the game eventually spawning the video game industry.
Whether you are getting together with a group of friends or just having a solo game session, there are tons of ways to celebrate this fun holiday.
Check out these five ways you can celebrate National Video Games Day.
1. Buy a new game.
In the year 2016, there are a plethora of video games available to play on various game systems and there has to be one that you have yet to play. Whether you own a Playstation, Xbox 360, Wii or any other type of console, head to your local Game Stop and buy that game you’ve been meaning to play but never got around to.
2. Pull out an old console.
Do you still have your old game systems like GameCube, Dreamcast, Playstation 2 or Sega Saturn? Dust it off and play a couple of old games. Your mind will be blown when you see just how terrible the graphics are compared to playing games on new consoles like Wii U, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
3. Watch games being played on Youtube.
If you aren’t interested in taking the time or dedication to setting up a game system and actually playing it, you can get on your computer or mobile device and head on over to Youtube. Type in the name of your favorite game along with the word “Gameplay” and watch someone else play the different levels that the game has to offer.
4. Join a gaming community.
There are several online communities for gamers to go where they can chat and form friendships over similar interest in games.
5. Get together with some old friends and play video games.
Nothing is better than getting together with a few buddies, kicking back and playing one of your favorite games. Whether it’s “NBA 2K17” or the latest “Call of Duty” gather a few friends, get some snack and have a good time.
