National Weather Service issues blizzard warning for New York City
The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for New York city, which will be in effect from 6 a.m. Sunday, December 26 till 6 p.m. Monday, December 27.
The weather service predicted snow accumulations of up to 16 inches covering the entire city and its immediate suburbs. This can also include neighboring north-east New Jersey, Long Island and coastal and interior south-east Connecticut.
The weather service also said that the extreme weather condition might reduce visibility to near zero at times.
As the whiteout condition will make travelling extremely dangerous, state officials have urged the public to complete all necessary tasks that involves driving before the snow starts.
Temperatures are predicted to be between the mid 20s to lower 30s with wind chills expected to rise to 20-35 mph. Also, occasional wind gusts from 40-55 mph are expected to continue through Sunday.
