Nautica Collection For Fall 2014 at NYFW: Chris Cox On How The Brand Continues To Innovate [VIDEO]
The lights were dim; the tent was full, as the crowd went silent waiting for Nautica to present their fall collection at NYFW. Then, smoke filled the air and a gorgeous male model, layered in lightweight fabrics; with reflective ski goggles on his head opened the show.
Nautica as a brand has a huge global following, with over 150 stores around the world. They are known to redefine their own classics to give a clean, modern but sport aesthetic to their collections.
Fall 2014 was no exception as each look looked ready to wear with effortless ease. From layered pieces to bare chested male models Nautica presented a cohesive collection inspired by active men.
Innovation was seen in the high performance fabrics, as matte and shine were used to create contrasted looks. The colors were icy, but softened by mineral shades.
Designer Chris Cox was backstage to discuss how he created these 40 looks. He agreed men’s wear can be quite challenging in terms of innovation, but Nautica was able to give the fashion crowd something fresh and new.
When asked how he keeps his passion so strong after being in the fashion industry since he was 14, Cox was humble, and said it was the “team” around him.
