The first-round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs has gotten off to an exciting start. Five of the eight series are tied at 1-1, and two lower seeds have a 2-0 advantage.

The Miami Heat began the postseason as the favorites to win the NBA Finals, and they are the only club that has lived up to expectations, through two games. The No.2 seed in the East has a 2-0 series lead over the Charlotte Bobcats. They continue to have the best odds of all the playoff teams to win the 2014 championship.

The San Antonio Spurs remain the biggest threat to meet Miami in the Finals, but they are having a more difficult time than many expected. Not only are the Spurs headed to Dallas with the series tied at 1-1, but they were blown out in Game Two on their home floor.

Dallas may be the No.8 seed in the West, but their Finals’ odds are greater than that of several Eastern Conference teams. The oddsmakers give them a better chance of winning the title than the Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Bobcats.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers rank third and fourth, respectively, in terms of Finals’ odds. Both teams are headed on the road for Game Three, tied at 1-1 in their series. The Memphis Grizzlies aren’t considered much of a threat to win it all, but they beat the Thunder in the 2013 playoffs with many of the same players. Indiana is the No.1 seed in the East, but hasn’t looked like a title contender in two months, going 10-13 to end the regular season.

Neither the Brooklyn Nets nor Portland Trailblazers have home-court advantage in the first round, but both have realistic odds of winning the championship. As the No.6 seed, the Nets are returning to Brooklyn with a 1-1 series tie. Portland heads home up 2-0, and LaMarcus Aldridge has been the best performer in the playoffs. He’s averaging 44.5 points and 13 rebounds per game.
