NBA: Al Horford, Ben Simmons Reveal Thoughts About Their Chemistry
Philadelphia 76ers’ Al Horford and Ben Simmons reveal some thoughts about how their chemistry works this season so far.
The signing of Horford appears to be beneficial to the Sixers now that their primary big man Joel Embiid is still dealing with some on and off injuries. As the team starts to form a new approach this season, Horford and Simmons shared their thoughts about playing together on the same team for the first time.
During a brief interview with Fanatics View before the recent game against Atlanta Hawks, Horford talked about how Simmons is as a teammate. According to the former Hawks star, Simmons is “very easy to play with,” and so far, Horford admitted that has been able to contribute well because of the young star’s playmaking skills.
“It’s coming along well. You know Ben (Simmons) is very easy to play with. He finds you, he finds you out on the floor,” Hordord said.
“I’ve been a recipient of a lot of easy opportunities. I just have to continue to work with him and continue to develop that,” Horford continued.
Simmons on his part, said that Horford has not only been a contributor inside the court. According to him, the veteran center/forward also has a calm and steady character off the court which impacted the team well.
“Al’s been amazing. You could feel his impact when he got here. He’s been there before and he is just a steady voice,” Simmons said about Horford.
After the Sixers’ 105-103 victory over the Hawks Monday, Horford recorded only 5 points but focused his attention on the defensive end with 9 rebounds, 4 blocks and 1 steal.
Although Horford was quiet on the offensive end as opposed to his Saturday's effort when Embiid was sidelined. It's clear that he will could shoulder a larger load on nights that Embiid wouldn’t be able to play, but regardless of Embiid’s situation, Horford remains a reliable and well-rounded statistical contributor for the Sixers.
Before the regular season started, Horford commented on his departure from Boston Celtics. And based on his statement, it seemed like he would have stayed with the C’s if he had just learned that Kemba Walker will replace Kyire Irving a bit earlier.
“I don’t want to get caught up in the past,” he said when asked if he would have considered staying if he knew Walker was coming.
“But, yeah, that would have been totally different,” Horford admitted.
