NBA All-Star 2020: Luka Doncic ‘No Dunking’, Determined To Play Despite Injury

Luka Doncic’s meteoric rise to stardom has been one of the top stories of the season. The sophomore player has taken the role of the leader of the Dallas Mavericks. His stellar all-around performance as a versatile guard has brought the franchise back into the playoff picture. The Dallas Mavericks currently have a 32-22 win-loss record, nine games behind the conference-leading LA Lakers.
He is set to make his All-Star weekend debut as a participant in the Rising Stars Challenge and as a starter in the All-Star game. But he’s been setback recently with an ankle injury that has sidelined him in a few games. That doesn’t mean that the Wonderkid will let that hamper his much-awaited All-Star Weekend debut.
Luka Doncic expressed interest to partake in the festivities as he was drafted to Team Lebron.
Being a point guard blessed with the size of a small forward, Luka Doncic has the skill set to make plays perfectly fit for the All-Star game. He’s known for his crafty moves, deceptive playmaking and precise pinpoint passing. When asked about his thoughts about playing the All-Star game, he shared that he’s hopeful to suit up. “I’m not gonna be the one dunking, that’s for sure,” the Slovenian said.
With no dunking in mind, the world might be up for some flashy highlight passes instead. As a member of Team Lebron, Luka Doncic has multiple options to find for some alley-oop dunks. Anthony Davis, Lebron James, Russell Westbrook are among the many explosive finishers that Luka Doncic can pass to for his team.
He is currently one of the top players in the league and is already an MVP candidate. His rookie campaign was a stellar season with 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6 assists per game. He has increased those numbers this year with 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists per outing.
The Dirk Nowitzki era of the Dallas Mavericks has ended and it is now time for Luka Doncic to be the face of the franchise. The 20-year-old along with former All-Star Kristaps Porzingis seek to lead their team to more success.
