KEY POINTS

  • Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been consistent players for the Boston Celtics
  • The Boston Celtics are currently third in the Eastern Conference
  • Kendrick Perkins believes that the duo should be Celtics for life

The Boston Celtics have been on a rise this season. They currently sit at third place in the Eastern Conference with a 37-15 win-loss record. They’re currently in a seven-game win streak and have won nine out of the last ten games they’ve been in. The direction of the team has been positive all thanks to the young core of the Celtics.

With the addition of Kemba Walker to the roster in the offseason, the Celtics were able to gain the team chemistry necessary to exceed. Walker has been the franchise player of the Charlotte Hornets for his entire career. He’s had some good runs with his team before where he’s named into multiple All-Star appearances. But the difference this season is he’s partnered with young talent who are proving to be All-Stars themselves.

The duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown has stepped up as one of the most exciting players in the league. Jayson Tatum was selected as an All-Star for the first time in his career with averages of 22.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Brown was unable to make the cut but is still producing stellar numbers for the Celtics. He’s putting up 20.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting at 49.4 percent from the field.

This has caught the attention of the league and most notably fellow Celtic and former NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins. The big man who is currently serving as an analyst shared that he wants to see the duo of Tatum and Brown in the Green and White for life. He’s confident with the two rising stars that he wants Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge to hear his take.

Perkins has also been vocal in the MVP race recently and he even included Tatum in his list. He tweeted his top ten candidates to win the prestigious award this season and he put the 21-year-old forward right in the tenth spot of his list.

The third-seeded Celtics are picking up momentum right before the second half of the season as the All-Star break is coming up. They're looking to build as many wins as they can before entering the postseason.
