KEY POINTS

  • Carmelo Anthony has moved on from his Houston Rockets' experience
  • Anthony proving that he can still play NBA ball with the right team
  • Rockets are struggling with internal issues which they hope to fix soon

Carmelo Anthony of the Portland Trail Blazers found himself back at Houston recently with forgettable memories. Most know how he played only 10 games before being getting yanked from the Rockets rotation. Worse, it started his long lay-off before the Blazers gave him a chance to show if he still has game.

Of course, most know how Anthony proved to one and all that he can still play NBA ball. This season alone, the 10-time NBA All-Star has averaged 16.3 points,6.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 26 games, according to Basketball-Reference.com. Anthony's efforts have helped Portland's campaign. They are currently 18-24 and are within reach of making the NBA playoffs.

They are on a two-game winning streak, the last of which was a 117-107 win over the Rockets. Anthony finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. These were good numbers behind the tandem of Damian Lillard (25 points) and CJ McCollum (24 points).

Portland's win was not spared from any color, particularly on Anthony's part. But according to the 35-year-old scoring forward, he holds no ill-feelings against his former team, the Houston Chronicle reported.

“I honestly don’t have any feelings about going back,” Anthony said. “I was only there a couple weeks. I don’t really have any type of feelings going back.”

It has been a complete turnaround for Anthony who most felt would never get another shot at an NBA run. With his current run, it is clear that he still has plenty left in the tank.

On the part of the Rockets, dropping their second loss in a row has raised some concerns. Now at 26-14, they have dropped to fifth place in the NBA Western Conference. They have dropped 3 of their last four assignments and it appears something is wrong internally, ESPN reported.

In an interview, D'Antoni seemingly had a hard time to explain the Rockets' misfortunes. But he did point out that the team's collective spirit was off but remains confident that things will eventually look up.

"Every ship gets rocked sometimes. We're getting rocked right now. Two weeks ago, if you would have asked, we were in a great place team-wise. It's that delicate of a thing. You've got to be careful, and right now, we're shaky; but we have veterans that will right the ship up," said D'Antoni.
