  • Rudy Gobert was tested positive for the COVID-19
  • The NBA has suspended the season
  • Evan Fournier reassures everyone that Gobert is 'doing good'

The NBA was hit with major news as reigning Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert has been tested positive for NCOV-19.

Gobert was seen joking about the coronavirus a few days ago during a press conference. After his time with the reporters, the seven-foot-one big man stood up and started kidding around in front of the media. He touched the microphones and recorders before heading out of the pressroom.

Gobert was immediately tested for the coronavirus and resulted in a preliminary positive result right before the tip-off against their matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder. This resulted in the postponement of their game.

The coronavirus has been a major concern for the past few months as it has affected several major sporting events across the country. The Indian Wells Masters is one example as the much-awaited tennis tournament was called off. Just a few days later the NBA followed.

The news of Gobert testing positive caused a major concern as the Utah Jazz has had several games throughout the week. Their last four matchups were against the Raptors, Pistons, Celtics and Knicks.

With how fast the schedule is in the NBA, the entire league is now under risk of the virus. In the last five days, all 30 teams are possibly connected already to the source.

Fellow French National Team player and Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier took to Twitter to share an update on Gobert. The sharpshooter and Gobert have spent time together competing in international tournaments.

Fournier tweeted that he just got off the phone with the Stifle Tower, saying that he’s doing good. He adds and reassures people to not panic at a time like this.

In a statement released by the Utah Jazz, the organization is on top of the issue and how to contain the situation. “We are closely working with the CDC, Oklahoma and Utah state officials and the NBA to determine how to best move forward as we gather more information. The individual is currently in the care of health officials in Oklahoma City,” said the announcement.
