NBA: Denver Nuggets Should Sign Carmelo Anthony, Jalen Rose Says

A former basketball pro is hoping for a Carmelo Anthony and Denver Nuggets reunion.

This offseason, Anthony's name unexpectedly came out in NBA free agency. But what is even more surprising is that he got linked to the Los Angeles Lakers shortly after the Anthony Davis deal, which is considered to be one of the biggest trade deals in NBA history.

However, none of the rumors about Anthony and the Lakers has actualized, and so far, no official statement has been released yet. It appears that the former Knicks star will be a free agent for a little longer as not even a solid indication of pursuing Anthony has been expressed by NBA teams.

In a recent episode of ESPN's "Jalen & Jacoby," NBA veteran Jalen Rose shared a very interesting insight about Anthony's career. At first, Rose said he wants the NBA to release the former scoring champ.

"I'm still rooting for the NBA to free Melo," Rose shared.

But when Rose was pressed by his co-host to state what he thinks is the best landing spot for Anthony, he answered Denver after thinking for a few seconds. "I would like to see Melo end up on Denver," the retired pro answered.

"They were the team the got the furthest in the playoffs when he was a member of their squad. He still gonna be adored by their fans," Rose added.

Rose also mentioned that the Nuggets can make use of Anthony to "hit buckets in the crunch" as the All-Star forward has proven that he can still drain jumpshots.

In simpler terms, Rose is suggesting that a reunion with the Nuggets could make sense for Anthony if he will be willing to play as a back-up and let the youngsters take the lead role. At this point, nobody can speak for Anthony, but a former teammate has released some strong revelations pertaining to the attitude and maturity of Melo.

Chauncey Billups, who played with Anthony with the Knicks and the Nuggets in the past, said in a recent appearance on SiriusXM Radio that “scoring 30 meant too much to Melo," ESPN noted.

“He could have games where he had 20 or 22, and he’s mad. He might have 36, and we lose the game, and he’s in there picking everybody up. But I think now, you fast forward the tape, and the reason why he’s not in the league — and I think he’s still worthy — is he hasn’t mentally taken that step back to say, ‘OK. I’ll come in and play against backups," Billups said.

Anthony hasn’t played a basketball game since November, when he was exiled by the Houston Rockets after 10 games, only to be traded three months later then subsequently waived by the Chicago Bulls.
