A former Laker revealed what Kobe Bryant taught him during the invite-only minicamp at Mamba Sports Academy.

Jordan Clarkson wasn’t just a former teammate of Bryant, he also happened to be a good friend of the NBA legend. This is one of the reasons why the minicamp at Bryant’s Mamba Sports Academy was so special for Clarkson. But more importantly, the 27-year-old Cavs guard is thrilled to be infused with the legend’s mentality.

Clarkson spent the summer trying to transform into a different type of player. He, along with 18 other current NBA players, attended the invite-only minicamp hosted by Bryant himself. In a recent interview with Cleveland.com, Clarkson detailed how he felt during the special training session with Bryant.

According to Clarkson, it was an “amazing process” and he felt like it was the best two days of his summer.

“Those were like the best two days of my summer. He (Bryant) sat us down and we had a whole schedule. I feel like those two days I learned so much and it was great. Amazing process,” Clarkson recalled.

Clarkson also revealed some pointers he took from the Laker legend. Collectively, the experience was great but Clarkson was more than grateful for learning a few strategies from Bryant himself.

“The insight he gave us was great. He showed us how to make the game easier. One big thing he was hitting on was getting an assist to get another assist. It was stuff like that. Showing you how to set up guys, play in the pick and roll. It was everything. He was coaching and basically broke everything down for us,” Clarkson revealed.

Reports claim that the invite-only minicamp is a get-together that could become a yearly event at the Mamba Sports Academy. And while it is not confirmed yet, Clarkson is not worried because Bryant assured them that they can reach out to him anytime.

“I still can hit him up. He ain’t nothing but a phone call away,” Clarkson noted.

Clarkson described Bryant as a “really hands on” mentor who was always present the whole time. He even mentioned that Players even had about an hour-plus to pick Bryant’s brain about their own game. They could stay late for a chat as well.

Meanwhile, Bryant recently addressed the Lakers ahead of the season opener against their LA rival Clippers. According to Bryant, it would be an exciting season in LA as both teams have the best players in the league.

“I saw a lot of Lakers fans were very disappointed, and rightfully so, that they didn’t get Kawhi (Leonard). But you did get Anthony Davis. The Lakers have two freaks of nature. They’re going to be fine. It’s a hell of a time to be in L.A,” Bryant said.
