  • Robert Horry has won his championships from all the teams – Houston, LA, San Antonio – he’s played for
  • He’s built his reputation as a clutch shooter
  • Horry said he respects Kobe Bryant’s opinion as he patterns his game to Michael Jordan

Former NBA Champion Robert Horry dismissed the idea of people judging greatness with the number of rings they’ve won in the NBA following Kobe Bryant saying that he’s pissed off for not winning six titles.

TMZ Sports caught up with the 16-year NBA veteran during a California Strong charity softball game and he didn’t mince his words towards people who use Larrys as a basis of a player’s greatness. "Here's the thing that people are so stupid about. They measure great players by how many championships they win. It's the stupidest thing," said “Big Shot Bob”.

Horry spent time together with Kobe during his seven-season stint with the Los Angeles Lakers and got his nickname for notoriously hitting shots during crunch time. Together, they’ve won a three-peat in 2000, 2001, and 2002 before moving to San Antonio Spurs in free agency.

The 49-year old forward reiterated that using the championship as the yardstick for greatness discredits a lot of the league’s greatest players who failed to win a title. "That's like saying Karl Malone, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing are not great players," he reasoned.

Horry said that he also respects Kobe’s view for not feeling good about him not winning more rings than Michael Jordan. He also knows where Kobe is coming from, saying that Kobe likes to compare and pattern his style of play to Jordan.

As to the fans that are using the same standard of rating the greatness of a player with the rings they’ve won, Horry had strong words for them. "All these other idiots who don't play basketball and never played basketball, when they say you wanna judge a guy's greatness by (the) number of championships, they're idiots,” said Horry, who’s won seven titles – two more than Kobe – on each of the teams he’s played for. He’s won two with the Houston Rockets, three with the Lakers, and two with the Spurs and built his reputation as a clutch scorer.
