NBA: Golden State Warriors Klay Thompson Credits Interaction With Michael Jordan As Motivation

The ‘greatest of all time’ Michael Jordan has inspired millions of athletes around the world. One of these includes NBA star Klay Thompson who recalled a cherished childhood memory.

It was during Jordan’s latter stretch as a Chicago Bull when the Golden State Warrior met the storied champion. A video was released on Thompson narrating the time his father took him to meet the basketball legend. The future NBA All-Star’s father is former number one overall pick Mychal Thompson.

“Just the fact that I was able to be there and meet the legend himself was so motivating for me,” Thompson said.

The other half of the splash brothers has been a phenomenal athlete in the NBA and is considered as one of the greatest shooters of all time. The Warriors’ success has relied heavily on Thompson’s impeccable drive to win as he’s tallied numerous accolades throughout his career.

Whether it’s a new three-point shooting record or if it’s another clutch performance, it’s evident that Jordan’s winning mentality has rubbed off in one way to Thompson. The three-time NBA champion continues to be one of the best players in the league and is looking to bounce back in the succeeding seasons.

“I will forever cherish that memory and I can always tell my peers, my future kids, that I was able to meet Michael Jordan in his prime and see the Chicago Bulls play,” Thompson concluded.

The video was posted as a way to hype up the documentary “The Last Dance” that features an exclusive look on Jordan’s career with the Bulls. It has been heavily lauded with how the numerous dramatic twists of the 90s dynasty have been brought to light to the current generation.

One of the highlights of the documentary was the depiction of how Jordan worked hard and how he wanted it badly to succeed. This mentality has been carried over to select stars and Thompson has been one of them.

While Thompson recovers from his ACL tear, the Golden State Warriors are looking to bounce back and continue their reign of dominance once the team is fully healthy again.
