KEY POINTS

  • The Golden State Warriors are currently rebuilding their team
  • One player they may benefit from is the former scoring champion, Carmelo Anthony
  • Anthony is averaging 15.3 points per game with the Portland Trail Blazers

The Golden State Warriors are seeking to bounce back from this year’s difficult year in the upcoming seasons. After falling to the bottom of the standings, they’re in a good position for a strong lottery pick in the succeeding draft. To add to this, there is a lot of free-agent talent that the team can benefit from including former scoring champion Carmelo Anthony.

It has been a unique year for the Warriors given the series of injuries and roster changes the franchise went through. The 2019-2020 season starred a different roster for the Warriors as their veteran players were replaced with rookies and new players. The Splash Brothers were hindered with injuries while key players such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston have parted ways.

With everything that has happened to the Warriors, rekindling their dynasty is still within the picture. They still have numerous assets they could lean on including the 2021 pick they received from Minnesota.

With all of these resources, the Warriors can lure even more talent that could boost the team’s depth. This includes Anthony, who is currently signed with a one-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. Per Blue Man Hoop, once Anthony is someone the Warriors can consider in signing to the team.

The former All-NBA has proven consistently throughout his career that he can score at will. While he had a turbulent ride after getting cut by the Houston Rockets, Anthony has shown glimpses of brilliance in his stint with the Trail Blazers. The 36-year-old veteran is currently averaging 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds an outing.

Having someone like Anthony in the roster of the Warriors can be pivotal in the locker room as the younger players can also learn from the 10-time All-Star. Talents such as former number one pick Andrew Wiggins can develop even further offensive arsenal from learning a thing or two from someone like Anthony.

While plans are not certain yet for the Warriors’ front office, it would be interesting to see how Golden State approaches the upcoming years. It will be important for the development of their young players to be coupled with crafty veterans who are willing to assist and hone the future of the team.
