  • The Golden State Warriors are most likely selecting first in the upcoming NBA draft
  • Prospects such as Anthony Edwards were initially rumored to be the Warriors' pick
  • The latest mock draft of CBS Sports has LaMelo Ball going to the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have fallen as the dominant team of the decade to a lottery selection in the upcoming draft. Amidst the talk of selecting Anthony Edwards, the latest CBS mock draft had the Warriors picking LaMelo Ball.

It has been a unique campaign for the Warriors in the latest season. A series of injuries and roster changes have brought the franchise in an interesting predicament as the favorites to win a top-five pick in the draft.

This year features a completely new look for the Warriors as their current roster has a different set of players from their championship days. The inexperience of their new players and the lack of the splash brothers have spiraled the team to the last place of the league.

With everything that has happened to the Warriors, they still remain as a team to watch as they’re looking to boost their lineup moving forward through the draft.

Speculation has revolved around several players on who the Bay Area squad will select. Some are saying Edwards is the best choice while other experts have speculated James Wiseman or Obi Toppin as better fits.

Considering that the NCAA tournament was canceled, it would be harder to analyze the top prospects given the current situation. But according to CBS Sports’ mock draft, the youngest Ball brother was seen going first to the Warriors.

As written by CBS’ Gary Parrish, Ball has the biggest potential to become an All-Star and should be prioritized by any team to draft.

“Some will choose to focus on his perceived negatives and low shooting percentages. But when you focus on what he can do, and how rare it is for somebody his age to do the things he can do, Ball becomes the most sensible option to be picked first,” Parrish said by way of Warriors Wire.

A few weeks ago, Warriors owner Joe Lacob has said before that they’re still considering all possible options for the draft and might even trade down. There are no commitments yet on the front office’s end on their draft selection.

While plans are not certain for the Warriors’ front office, it would be interesting to see how Golden State approaches the hype of these prospects.
