The Golden State Warriors have fallen as the dominant team of the decade to a lottery selection in the upcoming draft. Amidst the talk of selecting a highly coveted prospect, Steve Kerr shared that he’s also expecting his young players in the team to step up.

It has been a unique campaign for the Warriors in the past year. A series of injuries and roster changes have brought the franchise in the unique predicament of being the worst team in the league. This sets them up as the favorites to win a top-five pick in the draft.

The 2019-2020 season features a completely new look for the Warriors as their current roster has a different set of players from their championship days. The biggest blow to their team was how the splash brothers were ridden with injuries.

To add to these troubles, Kevin Durant opted to leave to the Brooklyn Nets while veterans Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston have parted ways.

With everything that has happened to the Warriors, they still remain as a team to watch as they’re looking at the succeeding years to bounce back. The Splash Brothers are set to return and they’re bound to boost their lineup with a potential high pick in the draft.

But per NBC Sports, Kerr also emphasized that their younger players must also grow and develop for the team.

"Most players really see a huge jump early in their careers once they've kind of settled in and have a solid year under their belt,” Kerr said.

Key new additions to the Warriors include big man Marquese Chriss and rookies Jordan Poole and Eric Paschall. If there’s one bright spot for the Bay Area squad this season, it has been the emergence of Paschall as a threat on the floor. The six-foot-eight forward has been averaging 14 points an outing to go along with 4.6 rebounds a game.

“I'm looking for a big leap forward for some of our younger players to the point where they can get into our rotation," Kerr added.

While the Warriors prepare for next season with their young roster, it would be interesting to see how Golden State reclaims their spot as a dominant team in the league.
