NBA: Healthy Paul George Works On Crossover, Jumpshots Ahead Of Clippers Debut
Clippers star Paul George looks healthy in a new video showing him working on his crossover and pull-up jumpers.
The Los Angeles Clippers are off to a 7-3 start to the season and sitting steadily at second spot in the Western Conference. In the early going, the team is looking like a unit that will be fighting for an NBA Finals contention.
This season, Kawhi Leonard has been playing like the top player in the NBA on most nights, and the Clippers' bench is apparently one of the best in the league. The Clips have done all this while patiently waiting on the highly-anticipated arrival of George , the other Clippers star who has been rehabbing from two offseason shoulder surgeries.
From the look of how things are going, it appears that the wait is finally over as George is now reportedly on his way back on the court. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, George plans to make his season and Clippers franchise debut on Thursday against the New Orleans Pelicans .
Moments before the Clippers faced the Toronto Raptors, George was spotted working out with the team inside the Staples Centre. In the video uploaded by Fanatics View, the versatile scorer can be seen draining consecutive mid-range jumpers and 3-point shots. No signs of recovering from surgeries were displayed by George as he crossed some of his teammates over and even bodied them up defensively.
The six-time All-Star has been sidelined for the Clippers' first 10 games while recovering from two offseason shoulder surgeries. George underwent rotator cuff surgery in May to repair a partially torn tendon in his right shoulder, and a minor surgery in June to repair a partial tear of his left labrum.
George was involved in one of the most controversial trades last summer when the Clippers traded for him in July. After signing with the team, the Clippers expected that George is highly likely to miss training camp and potentially the start of the season.
In a recent interview, Leonard shared his thoughts about finally sharing the court with George this season. According to the reigning Finals MVP, George will surely be studied by other teams and by that time, the team has to “figure out” another way to deal with it.
“He’s going to be a big piece. He’ll take a lot of attention. Then we’ll have to figure it out again,” Leonard said about George’s return.
