NBA: Jason Williams Names Best Alley-Oop Dunker He Played With Before Chris Webber
Sacramento Kings legend Jason Williams named the best alley-oop dunker he played with before Chris Webber.
Williams is one of the most entertaining players to ever play for the NBA. With his fancy dishes and unbelievable alley-oops, “White Chocolate” has made a name for himself in the league.
At the peak of Williams’ NBA career, he was a fan-favorite in Sacramento. Playing alongside Webber, the two had performed some of the best alley-oop plays in NBA history.
However, Williams revealed that before Webber, there’s a player from his high school days who would catch his alley-oop dishes no matter how high he throws it. The highflying alley-oop dunker Williams was talking about is his DuPont teammate and NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss.
In a recent appearance on House of Highlights, Williams looked back at some of the best plays he had with Moss. According to Williams, Moss was the first player to make him a legitimate alley-oop passer prior to Webber.
“He was pretty good,” Williams said about Moss as a basketball player.
“Everybody says it was Chris Webber was like the first one to catch all those passes but Moss man, you can throw it anywhere,” Williams revealed.
The 43-year-old NBA legend even recalled the times when he would throw the ball where it is impossible to catch, but apparently, Moss was still able to dunk it in.
“Some games I was just trying to throw it where I knew he wasn’t gonna catch it but he would get ‘em all,” Williams recalled.
When the duo turned pro, Moss decided to pursue an NFL career while Williams stayed with basketball and made it to the NBA. Despite all the success Moss had in football, Williams still believe that Moss could have been a great NBA player if it wasn’t for NFL.
“I can honestly say If he were to do anything else other than football, he could have made it too. Whatever he chose to play, he will be successful for sure,” Williams noted.
Moss played 14 seasons in the NFL. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft and played for seven years before being traded to Oakland Raiders in 2005. In 2007, Moss was traded to the New England Patriots for a fourth-round draft pick, where he set the single-season record for touchdown receptions.
After an impressive NFL career, Moss was selected to join the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
