NBA Jersey Sales: The Top 15 Best Selling Jerseys For 2015-2016 Season, LeBron, Kobe Or Curry On Top?
Less than a year ago power forward Kristaps Porzingis was a rising and talented star for FC Barcelona, and he would soon face the ire of New York Knicks fans who pelted him with boos after the NBA’s most valuable franchise selected him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 draft.
Fast-forward to today, and Knicks and NBA fans have come together to make the 20-year-old Latvian and Rookie of the Year frontrunner’s jersey one of the top sellers in the NBA.
On Wednesday, the league announced the 15 highest-selling jerseys from October to December, tapping Porzingis and his No. 6 jersey once again at the fourth spot, behind the Golden State Warriors point guard and reigning MVP Stephen Curry as the top seller, followed by Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James, and the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant at No. 3.
Coupling his incredible length and 7-foot-3 frame with the long-range shooting touch of a savvy veteran, Porzingis has helped the Knicks climb out of the Eastern Conference’s dregs with 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game as New York continues to challenge for the postseason.
Porzingis is joined by Knicks running mate and small forward Carmelo Anthony who rounded out the list at No. 15 overall, and the rest of highest sellers are all household names.
Curry’s teammate Klay Thompson was the second Warrior to make the top 15, and the defending champions are one four franchises to sport two players atop the rankings, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cavaliers, Knicks, and Chicago Bulls.
With the exception of Porzingis, the results are not much different from last year. James' jersey was the hottest seller at the end of the regular season, but Curry was on top by the end of the postseason.
