  • Bryant will not make an NBA return soon

Kobe Bryant has urged NBA players to do two important things in their career before they retire.

In April 13, 2016, Bryant officially retired after playing his last game at Staples Centre. A lot of NBA stars have found themselves quite lost after retirement but Bryant managed to discover his new passions in life.

In a recent interview with CloseUp360, Bryant spoke about what is necessary for players to do before they even decide to call it a career. According to the Lakers legend, who is now involved with an array of businesses, he thinks young players should search for their second career while they are still playing.

Bryant emphasized that being the best player in the league is the most important thing at the moment, but being finding something to be passionate about after basketball must be considered as well

“Balancing the craft, the game of basketball, which is the most important thing to you right now and your family. Also keeping an eye on what you want to do when you retire because it’s hard if you retire, and then you decide you want to do that,” Bryant explained.

The five-time NBA champion also noted that he encougares players to "find different things to do while still playing." He explained that players should be able to see what they "gravitate to the most" and find something they will love as much as basketball.

A few months ago, Bryant told Sports Illustrated that he is currently interested in tennis. He shared that he doesn’t only enjoy playing tennis, but he also thinks that the sport is equipped with “qualities” he wants his daughters to learn as they grow older. Apparently, Bryant finds tennis a great tool as he tries to "teach her daughters how to navigate through society."

However, despite his reputation as one of the fiercest competitors in the history of NBA, Bryant knows that “enjoying and being good” at tennis are two completely different things.

“I enjoy playing. I enjoy watching. Now, enjoying playing tennis and actually being good at playing tennis are two different things. But I enjoy it,” Bryant admitted.

Shortly after the 2019-20 season started, Bryant was rumored to be considering an NBA return due to a huge possibility of winning his 6th championship. The rumors were quickly shut down by Bryant and pointed out that he has fought hard for his five championships and he likes to keep it that way.
