To make matters worse, this then proceeded with the spread of the COVID-19 virus which as affected and taken the lives of thousands of people across the world. Sporting events including the Indian Wells Masters has already been canceled because of the threats that coronavirus could bring.

The problem has now increased and gotten even more serious as it has already made contact with the NBA players. Rudy Gobert’s situation was the first reported case and it caused an immediate response from the NBA.

While the league was contemplating first with the idea of playing without the fans, the news of Gobert’s infection changed the decision-making process completely. The seven-footers illness was the deciding factor to suspend the season indefinitely.

The risk of the virus spreading has increased as the Utah Jazz has played through four different teams this week. This doesn’t only put the players at risk but also the fans, media, staff and everyone within the proximity of these areas.

Lebron James took to Twitter to speak up on the matter. James is in his 17th season and is hoping to lead the LA Lakers to a deep playoff run. He shared that the last three months have been tough for everyone. “What we really need to cancel is 2020!”

Lebron is once again in the MVP race as he’s led the Lakers to a first-place seed in the Western Conference. The Lakers are currently on top with a 49-14 record.
