Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley was absolutely rocked Sunday when Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams flattened him on a screen, eight minutes into the third quarter of Game 1 of their first-round matchup.

Beverley was backpedaling down the court trying to guard Thunder's front runner Russell Westbrook and didn’t notice what was happening around him on the court and as a result rammed into a waiting Adams just past half court.

Referees declared Adams' screen legal and did not call it a foul. Although it was not deemed illegal, the move border lined on being an act of dirty play by Adams- he slid over at the last moment, which did not allow the Rockets' guard enough time to change his course. According to the NBA's rule book, a screener should not "assume a position so near to a moving opponent that he is not given an opportunity to stop and/or change direction before making illegal contact."

Beverley was not put down for long by Adams' screen. He immediately bounced back few minutes later with a 3-pointer putting the Rockets at a comfortable lead of 73-62. Beverley concluded the third quarter with a playoff career-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, which included eight rebounds and 4 of 6 from beyond the 3-point line. The Rockets won by a comfortable margin of 118-87.

During his post game press conference, Beverley said he had no issues with Adams’ screen.

"Nah, it was a legal screen,” Beverley said. "Good screen. Not worried about that, man. We’re just trying to focus on doing the right things. I’ve been hit with many screens before, so, on to the next play," he added.

Earlier in 2013 during the NBA playoffs, Beverley, a rookie then, collided with Westbrook leaving the Thunder point guard with a tear in his meniscus.

People on social media reacted to the incident with funny memes and gif trolling the Rockets guard.
