NBA PREVIEW: New Jersey Nets vs. New York Knicks (Tonight, 7:40 PM EST; TV: MSG)
Are the Knicks on the verge of going on a winning streak?
Fresh off snapping their losing streak by beating the Orlando Magic, the Knicks face the New Jersey Nets tonight at Madison Square Garden.
It will be the first of three Knick home games involving teams with very poor records. After tonight's game, the Knicks will face Cleveland on Sunday, and Toronto on Tuesday.
The Nets have lost seven of their last eight, and three in a row. The Nets have been without star guard Deron Williams who has been out with a wrist injury.
Though there has been speculation that Williams would be available for tonight's game, there has been no firm decision as to his playing status. Williams didn't play last night in the Nets' blowout loss to the Houston Rockets in Newark.
The Nets are led by center Brook Lopez who has averaged 19.7 points this season.
The Knicks snapped their losing streak on Monday by defeating the Orlando Magic, who team with Dwight Howard, perhaps the best big man in the NBA.
In that game, the Knicks needed overtime and a 39-point performance from Carmelo Anthony. The high-profile forward has been contributing with big scoring nights during their losing streak.
If the playoffs were to start today, the Knicks would be a seventh seed.
The Knicks and Nets each have eight games remaining in the season.
