New York Knicks rookie sensation RJ Barrett claims he can dunk like his Duke co-star Zion Williamson.

In the 2019 NBA Draft class, Duke’s Williamson and Barrett were among the biggest names. Now that the two already parted ways coming into the league, fans are thrilled to see how they will match against each other. To add more spice into it, Barrett is already claiming he can do some of the highflying stunts of Williamson.

In his exclusive interview with GQ, Barrett revealed interesting things about his young basketball career. According to Barrett, he and Williamson are both big dunkers. However, Barret finds it a bit “unfair” that people see Williamson as more athletic because of his unique physique.

“I mean, he won every time. The funny thing is, people don’t know that I can do some of the dunks he can do. He’s a freak of nature, so it’s really unfair,” Barrett revealed.

It will be remembered that Williamson generated controversy when he reportedly turned down huge offers from other brands and signed to Jordan brand. But just like Williamson, Barrett now has his own shoe deal. Last month, Barrett inked a multi-year sneaker contract with Puma.

According to Sole Collector, Puma is grateful for having Barrett. In the brand’s official statement, Puma addressed Barrett and expressed excitement towards welcoming the Knicks star in their family.

“We are thrilled to have RJ join the Puma family as we enter our second season of Puma Hoops. He’s obviously an incredible talent and we’re proud that he’s bringing his bold personality to our brand. We’re especially pleased to have a young, game changing athlete in New York—the home of Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier, and Puma Hoops. We look forward to a strong partnership with him and a fantastic rookie season ahead,” Puma wrote.

As a rookie, Barrett seemed to carry a tremendous amount of confidence in him. In the same interview, Barrett stated that he has been used to winning and he never really experienced much losing in his entire career.

“I’m not going to lie to you, I haven’t really lost. Maybe nine or ten games in the past five years. And even when I was younger, I was always winning championships,” Barret stated.

Prior to this, Barrett has already addressed how he would match with some of the greatest players in the NBA today. As per Barrett, James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo are the perfect match-ups for him.

“I’m actually kind of more looking forward to playing against James Harden because that would definitely be my matchup at my position, and definitely Giannis,” Barrett pointed out.
