Patrick Beverley is an NBA guard that multiple teams could benefit from although it looks like the 30-year-old cager already has a team in mind - the Chicago Bulls. The 6-foot-1 defensive guard proved his worth on the defensive end last season with the Los Angeles Clippers but it appears his best bet of landing a rewarding contract may be waiting in NBA free agency.

The Bulls, a team that is currently in rebuild mode, is looming as a potential stop. Beverley mentioned to the Chicago Tribune how he was from there and believes that he could provide Jim Boylen and his charges the needed boost and experience to improve on their 2018-19 NBA season performance.

"I'm a Chicago kid. So, of course, I'm open to playing for the Chicago Bulls if that's a team that's interested in me. At the same time, any decision that is made, it's never personal. It's always business. I have to make the right decision for me and my family," said Beverley.

According to Yahoo Sports, there are at least five teams interested in Beverley before the Clippers get their turn to pitch to the veteran guard. Aside from the Bulls, another team that could pitch to the 42nd pick of the 2009 NBA Draft are the Los Angeles Lakers. With Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart on their way out, the Lakers have a big void to fill at the point guard position. Kyrie Irving has been mentioned in recent weeks although there is no certainty of seeing Uncle Drew reuniting with James in Hollywood.

Like most free agents, Beverley is expected to factor in the numbers. With the Clippers preoccupied in getting max-level free agents this summer, the veteran guard will only get attention once the Clips are able to land their prospective targets. The only question by that point, however, is if Beverley is still available or interested in returning to Los Angeles for the 2019-20 NBA wars.

As things stand now, it looks like the Bulls hold the best chances of acquiring Beverley. Should that be the case, he would join a young core composed of Lauri Markannen, Zach LaVine, and Otto Porter Jr. But as mentioned in a previous post, further changes could be made in the Bulls roster with Chicago reportedly making everyone available except for Markannen and Wendell Carter Jr. Beverley averaged 7.6 points and 3.8 assists last season. But what makes him a good addition is his leadership and his defensive prowess.
