NBA Rumors: Blazers' Next Blockbuster Step May Involve Hotly-Pursued Pistons Forward
KEY POINTS
- The Trail Blazers could make a move to acquire Jerami Grant from the Pistons before the trade deadline
- Grant has impressive numbers to flaunt, which makes him an enticing prospect
- Three teams are also in play to possibly pull off a deal with the Pistons for Grant
The Portland Trail Blazers have been busy as of late, and it appears that they are not yet finished.
The Blazers have practically cleaned house, dealing out big names that include CJ McCollum, Norman Powell, Larry Nance and Robert Covington.
Looking ahead, it will be interesting how the deals will affect the Blazers starting this season.
They have new faces in the mix, including Josh Hart, Tomas Satoransky, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Didi Louzada from the New Orleans Pelicans.
Aside from these players, the Pelicans also sent a protected first-round pick and two second-round picks to Portland, ESPN reported.
With the NBA trade deadline clock ticking, there could be another player headed to Portland.
Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons has been a topic of discussion, and there are multiple teams interested in the 27-year-old forward.
According to Jake Fischer of the Bleacher Report, the Blazers are still in discussions for the services of the 6-foot-8 forward.
Other teams allegedly interested in Grant include the Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz.
The Blazers have kept tabs with Grant, someone they were interested in even before the 2021-22 season.
Following their recent moves, it will be interesting how they will ramp up the chase and beat out other teams linked to the Oregon native.
However, it should be noted that the Pistons may not easily budge and agree to a trade.
The word going around is that Detroit is looking for at least two first-round picks for Grant.
Grant has one year left in his three-year deal with the Pistons and is looking for a four-year extension in the summer.
The former second-round pick is averaging 19.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game this season, the same numbers that could aid the Blazers moving forward.
