  • The WWE reportedly offered a contract for Enes Kanter to compete inside the ring
  • Wrestling shows continue to broadcast on-air despite the coronavirus

The suspension of the NBA has halted the majority of the world’s sporting action. But that hasn’t stopped the WWE to operate as they reportedly offered a contract to Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter.

During the threat of the coronavirus, WWE has been one of the bigger companies to continue airing weekly episodes of their show. The wrestling organization has taken advantage of its isolated performance center as their program goes on without a live studio audience.

This prompted a multitude of creative ways to keep the fans at home entertained as unique storylines have already panned out in the past few months. From crowning NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski as 24/7 champion to throwing superstars off the roof of the corporate headquarters, the WWE hasn’t been short of ideas.

A recent report revealed that they’ve also reached out to the six-foot-eleven big man Kanter. The nine-year basketball professional said in an interview with Shams Charania that he’s had offers before to compete inside the ring.

“Oh, I’m definitely becoming a WWE wrestler, for sure. I actually already have offers from WWE, but I’m like, ‘Dude, I gotta finish my basketball career first.’ But after my career, I’m definitely becoming one.”

It’s interesting to note that Kanter has already had experience inside the ring, as he was a former winner of the 24/7 championship. It was during a 2019 promo inside Madison Square Garden when the newly acquired Celtic pinned R-Truth for the title. He eventually lost the belt seconds after but it proved to be an entertaining stint.

The long frame of Kanter would make an interesting fit with the WWE’s roster. While it’s unique that a professional basketball player would make the jump inside the ring, it’s something that has been done before. Superstars Karl Malone and Dennis Rodman have also had their share of screen time in pivotal wrestling storylines.

It’s a possibility that NBA fans could look out for in the future once Kanter decides to call it a career on the court. The versatile center has shown promise as a wrestler and it wouldn’t be too far off to imagine Kanter hoisting up another WWE title belt.
