The Boston Celtics are keeping a close eye on Jeremy Lin and two others as the team surveys for a boost in its bid to finally seize the elusive NBA title. Still one of the top teams in the East right now, the Celtics do not seem to be hitting the breaks in making moves as the season progresses.

The players that the multi-titled franchise is also targeting are J.R. Smith and Jamal Crawford, based on a report by Hardwood Houdini.

Just days ago, rumor has spread saying that the Celtics are indeed planning to shake up its roster but maintained they are in no way trading any member of their core led by their newest acquisition Kemba Walker.

With that said, acquiring a well-rounded player from the free-agent market is one viable option. All three free agents mentioned have, in their own way, exhibited their willingness to return the NBA – still the biggest stage in basketball.

Jeremy Lin has been making waves in the Chinese Basketball Association while playing for the Beijing Ducks as the newly minted NBA champion was left without a team after winning the chip with the Toronto Raptors last season. But with his display of outstanding basketball on the other side of the globe, his return to the NBA might just happen soon.

The 31-year-old Asian-American sensation could run it back with Kemba Walker, either as a solid backcourt duo, or Lin playing the reliever’s role to his All-Star pal.

Mark Nilon of the Hardwood Houdini said further, “Lin played some of his best basketball in Charlotte, alongside Walker. While he steps in for the All-NBA guard until he gets fully healthy, the thought of the two reunited in green and white is tantalizing.”

Unlike Jeremy Lin, JR Smith and Jamal Crawford are spending the wait-and-see process on their respective couches waiting for a call. But both players, despite the layoff, are still free-agent pick-up worthy. Smith has the championship experience in him that could just be the missing piece of the puzzle for Brad Stevens. Crawford, meanwhile, boasts his veteran savvy, leadership and basketball IQ which are also paramount to the chase that the Celtics are going for.
