KEY POINTS

  • The player-only meeting allegedly re-aligned their communication, according to Jaylen Brown
  • The Celtics' internal issues were hardly resolved in general, per Wojnarowski's report
  • The Celtics will have to overcome a tough test in the form of Miami on Thursday

The Boston Celtics have had their share of internal problems, but it appears their case is getting out of hand.

A players-only meeting was held, but having one this early in the season sends off mixed signals.

The meeting was held before the Celtics faced the Orlando Magic, a game they won 92-79.

Based on the result, it appears the meeting may have helped. But according to Adrian Wojnarowski when he appeared on “NBA Countdown” before the Magic game, it was not so productive.

The alleged rift from within the Celtics camp started when Marcus Smart made disturbing comments on the team’s offensive problems.

Aside from that, he mentioned the names of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and wanted more movement, especially in late-game situations, NBC Sports Boston reported.

According to Wojnarowski citing unnamed sources, the meeting became emotional.

It appears that the said meeting hardly resolved the internal issues, adding that it all boils down to how head coach Ime Udoka can address everything.

After Boston’s win over the Magic, Brown commented on the said meeting and used a familiar response when players get too emotional or heated.

"Obviously, in the midst of trying to win games, it's something that we probably didn't need. But we all communicate and talk to each other, so we're trying to find ways to win," Brown said in a report from NBC Sports Boston.

In all, it was all about getting some communication going on from within the Celtics' camp and finding ways to win.

As far as Brown is concerned, that was the gist of the players’ only meeting which could be credited to their win over the Magic, at least for now.

The real test on whether the Celtics were finally able to patch things up would be on Thursday, November 4.

Boston meets the Miami Heat in what will undoubtedly be a whole different scenario.

Furthermore, the Heat have been humming and are leading the conference with a 6-1 card.

If not against the Magic, the assignment against the Heat could very well show how deep the Celtics have threshed out their differences.
