  • Andre Drummond's preferred next destinations do not include the Brooklyn Nets, a report says
  • The Nets could be the last option for Drummond if his preferred teams fold
  • The Lakers and Clippers are among the teams in the lead for Drummond

The Brooklyn Nets have made a habit of taking in bought-out players. Andre Drummond is one of the top names reportedly being targeted, but it appears Steve Nash and company are either last in line or not in the running, a report suggests.

Drummond was officially bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers and can play with any NBA team of his preference. The only problem is that only a select number of teams are on the list. Sadly, the Brooklyn Nets are not one of them.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported, citing unnamed sources, that the Nets are not among the favorites to snag the 6-foot-10 center. Instead, Drummond will reportedly prioritize other teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and the Charlotte Hornets.

Of course, that is subject to change. It all boils down to what happens in the coming weeks. The reason behind prioritizing the said teams is unknown.

However, most know that Drummond will likely want to join a team in contention for the 2020-21 NBA title. Of that list, the Lakers and Clippers stand out. The Knicks have a chance, while the Hornets choice is pretty curious.

But if an NBA title is Drummond’s goal, why not the Nets? There is no doubt that for a team that has Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving, the 27-year-old would make Brooklyn more than formidable. Concerns like getting ball touches and playing time may be factors. However, that would also be the case if the All-Star center joins either the Lakers or the Clippers.

The Boston Celtics, another team linked to Drummond, could also be a landing spot. They acquired Evan Fournier recently, but most know that a big problem for the Beantown squad is the frontline. Things have not been going well for Brad Stevens, but Drummond could stop the bleeding.

But right now, the easy money is for Drummond to join either of the Los Angeles-based squads. The Lakers are the one that needs immediate help with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the sidelines due to injuries. The Clips could use a reliable big man, and Drummond fits that need.

The coming days should be interesting for those following the Drummond buyout scene. The Nets are allegedly out, but anything can still happen.
