KEY POINTS

  • The Brooklyn Nets are searching for one more scoring option to form an even stronger super team
  • One speculated move the franchise is considering is trading away their young core for Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal
  • Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert have risen as one of the Nets' valuable assets

As the NBA remains to be suspended due to the ongoing global pandemic, the offseason rumors persist for every team. The latest speculations involve the Brooklyn Nets’ young core and Washington Wizards’ star Bradley Beal.

The Nets are currently one of the teams fighting for a postseason spot with a 30-34 record. Prior to the coronavirus suspension of the league, the Nets were seventh in the Eastern Conference and were battling it out to secure the postseason berth. It would have been an incredible run for the Nets given their young core has kept their team into relevance.

The rise of Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert has been one of the main reasons why the Nets are still contending for a playoff spot despite the injuries of their star players. The signing of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant was huge for the Nets but the franchise will have to wait before the star duo can wreak havoc across the league.

For Durant, his torn Achilles will have to take some time to recover before heading back in full form. Irving, on the other hand, only saw limited games this season as he was hurdled with injuries. He was ruled out of the season as he is currently recovering from an arthroscopic procedure on his right shoulder.

It was Irving’s absence that gave way to the rise of the young stars of the team in Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert. When it comes to the team’s offense, Dinwiddie has been phenomenal as he’s averaging 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per outing.

To add further support for the Nets’ game plan, LeVert has also stepped up on several occasions for the team. In one notable night, the swingman exploded for 51 big points in a road win against the Boston Celtics.

Despite these pieces in play, the Nets are still looking to add another strong offensive presence in the team. Per Bleacher Report, the Nets could utilize their young players to lure in Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal.

Brooklyn’s Dinwiddie and LeVert are proven assets that are valuable to any team in the league. Add in a formidable defender in Jarrett Allen to the mix and the Nets may be able to make a case for a star trade.

Having Beal in their squad will be a nightmare for any defense as the Wizards star has proven time and time again how lethal he is on the floor. It will be interesting to see if Brooklyn is able to pull off a deal with this magnitude and bring the third star to their already stacked roster.
