Carmelo Anthony is the topic of the NBA rumor mill once again after Joe Johnson gained interest from teams following an impressive Big3 performance. The 35-year-old gained the sympathy of several personalities and now there are suggestions that some NBA teams could take a look at the 10-time All-Star.

One of those teams suggested is the Los Angeles Lakers. For some, this may sound like old news. Also, there is the fact that the purple and gold do not have an open roster spot. That was until DeMarcus Cousins fell to injury and got involved in off-court legal issues.

The 29-year-old, who recently tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Morgan Lang, is facing domestic violence charges. Former partner Christy West released an audio recently where she was threatened allegedly by Boogie for not allowing their son to be at his wedding, USA Today reported.

To fill up the void, the Lakers have given former Laker Dwight Howard a non-guaranteed deal to replace Cousins. To make room for the 6-foot-11 center, Los Angeles had to cut Aric Holman to make room. With a full line-up, the only way the Lakers can accommodate Anthony or some other player is to release someone else. That person could be Cousins.

The Athletic reported that Anthony has been linked to the Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly also in the mix while there is also word that the Brooklyn Nets could also come knocking on Melo's door.

A stint with the Lakers is deemed senseless by pundits, seeing how they don't have a roster spot available. Even if Howard holds a non-guaranteed deal, the Lakers are seen better off keeping him than adding another wing guy.

The Clippers and the Nets could make sense, possibly a new beginning to the third overall pick of the 2003 NBA Draft. Most teams are looking to add tested wingmen to their line-ups in an effort to add more artillery. However, Anthony is not the only one available to fill up that slot. There are names like Andre Iguodala and J.R. Smith also waiting in the wings - both who have already proven that they can hit it from the outside.
