With all attention focused on the likes of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Kawhi Leonard, there are still some forgotten names in the mix. The list includes J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony, ironically two NBA stars who have links to Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

Smith and Anthony hold uncertain NBA futures although there are some who believe that the two veterans still have plenty to offer. In the case of Anthony, his wife (Lala Anthony) says that the scoring forward will definitely be back on a roster next season, TMZ Sports reported. The only problem is she failed to single out a team that would take in the 34-year-old cager.

She did however air some kind of preference on the team that takes a chance on Melo.

"Whatever team is gonna appreciate him!" she said.

At least two teams have been mentioned as possible landing spots for the third overall pick of the 2003 NBA Draft. These are the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks. A possible signing with the Lakers is mainly because of his ties with James. This would not be the first time that Anthony has been linked to the purple and gold and most speculated that he would have been signed up as early as last NBA season.

As for the Knicks, suggestions of a possible reunion between the 10-time NBA All-Star and the Gotham squad were brought up when he was interviewed by SNY.tv in a previous post. He was asked on the possibility of returning to New York and the 2013 NBA Scoring Champion responded by saying that he will first see what would be going on over there.

It would be an awkward situation for Anthony to return to New York after a forgettable break-up. He opted to bolt the Knicks camp, mainly due to differences with then-Team President Phil Jackson. Of course, a lot has changed although the team is still owned by James Dolan.

Aside from that, Anthony may not be a fit to the new look Knicks who have heavily invested in youth. New York is believed to be saving team salary budget space to reel in two legit NBA stars. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are believed to be the target of the Knicks although other big names are not discounted.

Should this be the case, Anthony could find himself out of the limelight. He has been idle for quite some time and proving that he still has game would be the immediate thing he needs to do - for the Knicks, Lakers or any team that takes a chance on him.
