The Charlotte Hornets are loaded with overpriced players this 2019-20 NBA season. However, most of them are not expected to last after this season. With Kemba Walker out of the mix, the Hornets are off to a struggling start. Unless something happens soon, personnel changes could be forthcoming.

With the year coming to an end, all eyes are on players who could end up getting traded. One name that a lot of teams will be looking into is Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons. According to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com, the 26-year-old center is a priority for Charlotte. The only question now is when will they strongly pursue the Pistons' center.

"It's just a matter of whether they make him a priority now and give up something to get him or try to make the move later," a league executive reportedly told Heavy.com.

In a previous post, Drummond expressed excitement about his upcoming free agency. However, he also made it clear that this was not intended to hint that he wanted out of Detroit. Either way, the 6-foot-10 cager is due for a big raise. That could happen in Detroit, Charlotte or any other team willing to invest heavily in the two-time NBA All-Star.

As far as the Hornets are concerned, they can either pitch by the February NBA trade deadline or the offseason. However, there is that question on whether Drummond is open to becoming a Hornet. Buzz City is not exactly a prime destination by top-tier talent.

Aside from that, Charlotte will need to move some talent to get Drummond on board. A potential package for Drummond includes a possible first-round pick and maybe Malik Monk. There could be more assets included in a potential trade.

The Pistons and the Hornets are not that far behind in the NBA Eastern Conference standings. It may also be too early for both teams to break their rosters. A fair assessment could be done once the NBA reaches the halfway point of the season. Drummond will undoubtedly be a target by multiple teams. So the better question now is will the Pistons lock him up or take their chances in the summer?
