DeAndre Jordan, one of the most coveted big men the NBA has at the moment, found himself dealt with the New York Knicks recently. He was part of that seven-player trade involving Kristaps Porzingis although there is a growing belief that the 30-year-old may end up going back to Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Jordan would like to return to Los Angeles. He continues to hold close ties with Clippers head coach Doc Rivers so a reunion could be forthcoming. If not the Clips, he could be a good fit to the Lakers who are in need of someone who can fill up their hole in the middle. If not by the trade deadline, he could be one of the targets in the summer.

For now, this would make no sense with the attention focused on Anthony Davis. The 25-year-old has singled out the Lakers as the only team where he would sign a long term deal, a decision that has drawn criticism from various outlets.

Hence, Jordan could be an alternative in the event that the Lakers are unable to snag Davis. As far as his contract it may all depend on the call of team president Earvin Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka.

With Davis signing with other teams on a short lease, both Lakers top honchos will be factoring that in on the contracts to be given to incoming players. As one can see, Jordan ending up with the Lakers makes little sense unless it is a short-term pact, Silver Screen and Roll reported.

Hence, the Clippers loom as the plausible choice for Jordan in the event that he is waived by the New York Knicks. According to SB Nation, Jordan and Wes Matthews are likely to be bought out. Once this happens, multiple NBA teams are likely to go after them.

For Jordan, the Warriors could make a go for them and fill up that open roster spot with a big man they have long been looking for. DeMarcus Cousins is back in harness but the Dubs still need a backup in the event that something untoward happens along the way.

Playing backup is a key thing to note here. Will Jordan agree to such? If it means winning an NBA ring, DeAndre could consider it and then worry about a new contract in the offseason.
