The trade deadline left some major changes for affected teams in the NBA. One of the biggest names of last week’s activities involved D’Angelo Russell getting shipped to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The struggling Timberwolves’ front office team was doing everything that they can to keep their star player Karl-Anthony Towns happy. Making a deal for one of Karl-Anthony Towns’ closest friends, former All-Star, D’Angelo Russell was just that move for the organization.

The duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell were selected consecutively in the 2015 NBA draft. Karl-Anthony Towns was the first pick while D’Angelo Russell followed. Both players have already made an impressionable start to their careers. Both have already been selected to participate in an All-Star game and the two have already carried their franchises on their backs. D’Lo is coming off a stellar season with the Brooklyn Nets and kicked off the first half of the year with the Golden State Warriors.

The two will now suit up together for the Timberwolves as the two friends try to end the season on a strong note. The Timberwolves are currently near the bottom of the Western Conference. They recently snapped a 13-game losing streak to put them at 16-35, good enough for 14th place.

With the two good friends suiting up, speculation immediately ensued regarding Devin Booker. It’s been well documented that their friendship is actually a trio with Devin Booker as the third guy of their group.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Devin Booker were also teammates at the University of Kentucky and have had their share of moments together. Here they are defending their Alma Mater in Jimmy Kimmel’s game show segment.

Their friendship prompted reporters to ask Devin Booker on his take on D’Angelo Russell being shipped to Minnesota. He said that he was glad for the two. “Obviously they’re two of my closest friends. I talk to them a lot,” shared the 23-year-old. He continued by sharing that he was happy for D’Angelo Russell that he doesn’t have to worry about his next destination will be.

He later added that he’s committed to the Phoenix Suns. “I’m just focused on this team. I think everybody knows that,” said Booker.
