  • Embiid unhappy with the Sixers game plan
  • Embiid could be an interesting trade candidate per executives
  • Sixers struggling despite talented young cast of players

The Philadelphia 76ers are a lost bunch right now although they remain in the hunt for an NBA playoff seat. However, making the post-season wars is one thing but going deep is another. At the rate they are going, they may struggle to get past the first round.

The Sixers were unable to address their main problem this NBA season - getting a shooter to help out on offense. With Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons is known to play better near the basket, head coach Brett Brown is left with no recourse but to make adjustments. But the problem is whether the Sixers mentor is doing the right tweaks.

One player who found himself out of his comfort zone is Joel Embiid. Rather than play the low post, the Cameroonian is now playing behind the three-point line. A reason for that is to reportedly allow Simmons to play more near the basket. Most know how he does not possess a jump shot and prefers to take it hard to the basket. To shorten it all, Embiid has been inadvertently asked to make a sacrifice on behalf of the 23-year-old cager, NBC Sports reported.

Though Embiid is open to the idea for as long as it helps the Sixers' campaign, the move has hardly made things better. There is no telling up to when this setup will stand but the discomfort it is giving Embiid is sending out disturbing signals. Though he has not been mentioned in trade talks, things could change this summer. It would be remote to consider the 25-year-old center being sent off moving forward. But the fact that he is being mentioned in trade chatter should be a cause for concern for Philly, ESPN reported.

If not Embiid, Brown should be concerned about the safety of his tenure as well. So far, he has been the one calling the shots for the Sixers since 2013. Despite the influx of promising talent, Philly has been unable to return something credible. Of course, injuries and trades have contributed to altering the course. But in the end, it is all about the head coach and whether he is effective. Brown has helped Philly improve prior to his arrival. However, it remains that with young talent and plenty of opportunities, the 58-year-old's plans seem to be far from the results 76ers management is expecting.
