Through the years, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to get promising young stars that were originally seen as the ones who would lead the purple and gold back to its winning ways. Those dreams fizzled with the Lakers eventually dealing and losing some key players like D’Angelo Russell (to the Brooklyn Nets) and Julius Randle (to the New Orleans Pelicans). It was after their departures that both showed their true worth.

More stars are expected to follow and (most) likely end up blossoming as well. Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart are headed to the Pelicans in exchange for Anthony Davis – players who are expected to show their true worth as well. As far as Russell and Randle, both could find themselves reuniting as well for another team – the Brooklyn Nets. This is if the recent social media rant of former Lakers teammate Jordan Clarkson is to be believed, Fansided reported.

The Filipino-American guard who now plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers recently made a tweet, claiming that Russell would go to Phoenix while Kyrie Irving and Randle will head to Brooklyn. What should be interesting here is the part seeing Russell (possibly) move out and Irving coming in. In recent days, there has been talk that Irving could end up with the Nets since he is believed to be opting out of his deal with the Boston Celtics. Should that be the case, there are pundits who wonder how Uncle Drew and DLO can co-exist in the backcourt. Thus, this is where the possibility of seeing the second overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft moving to another team. And in this case, it is the Suns where his close friend (Devin Booker) plays.

However, there is no certainty that the Nets are the team that Irving will be choosing. The New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers are still in play. Of the two, the Lakers may have just upped their chances with Davis teaming up with LeBron James. The 27-year-old looms as the missing link for the Lakers to get themselves back on the winning track.

Hence, there is a big possibility that Randle and Russell could find themselves in one team once more. Randle, someone who had a great 2018-19 NBA season, is expected to shun the player option of his contract and test the market. Should he choose Brooklyn, he gives the needed muscle up front and possibly boost the chances of coach Kenny Atkinson next season.
