Former NBA big man Larry Sanders is seeking a comeback to the league. Insisting that he is still in the best shape to compete, the 31-year-old hopes he could land on a team where he vows to contribute.

"I think with things shifting a bit, me still young, I feel like I'm in the prime stage, I can definitely contribute,” Sanders told TMZ Sports. "I would just love to contribute to a team and help them win and give my knowledge, give my defensive presence and just being able to play basketball and cope with life the way I cope with life.

“That's ideal for me. That sounds like heaven."

Sanders had been in and out of the NBA in the past. After being a reliable frontcourt man for the Milwaukee Bucks, who drafted him at 15th overall in the 2010 Draft, the 6’11 center found himself lost and out of the roster in 2015 after failing drug tests several times.

He then made a comeback and played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017 but barely made an impact in the team and was released after just five games, triggering a deeper sense of frustration on his part.

“(The Cavs) offered me to sign right after the workout, so I’m thinking they were really interested in me,” Sanders said, per an article from Sports Illustrated in 2019. “But now I don’t think that was so much the plot. I think they grabbed me, with no intention of really playing me for real, but to make sure the competitors didn’t get me. They signed me, worked me out, then the day before the deadline they cut me.”

Asked about what kept him busy while being away from the competitive ball, the Florida-born player revealed that he has been working with CLICK – a spray cannabis company that is “perfect for someone with his athletic lifestyle.”

"It's super discrete, super cool, and sleek and I just fell in love with it because, for me, it's healthier,” Sanders said of the product. “I can use it at all times of the day and it's a great alternative for athletes and health-conscious people."

Over the course of his five-year run in the NBA, Sanders has averaged 6.4 points and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 48% from the field. His career year took place in the 2013 season where he flirted with a double-double average of 9.8 points and 9.5 rebounds while adding 2.8 blocks in 71 games, which forced the Bucks to offer him an extension worth $44 million.
