KEY POINTS

  • Pau Gasol could return for the Lakers and join brother Marc
  • The Gasol siblings could become the first brothers to win an NBA title playing side-by-side
  • Pau Gasol may end up retiring as a Laker

Pau Gasol is happy after finding out that his younger brother Marc signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.

If there is someone well-versed at how things go there, it would be him. The elder Gasol has two NBA rings to prove it.

Pau won two titles with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010, and he is considered one of the best players ever to don the purple and gold. Now, Marc will try to join that elite circle starting this 2020-21 season.

By joining the Lakers, the Gasol brothers are part of a rare list of siblings who have played on the same team. Brook and Robin Lopez played together for the Milwaukee Bucks last season.

With that in mind, could Pau possibly make a one-year return to the Lakers that would see him and Marc on the Los Angeles bench?

Speculations are growing on the possibility. This stems from a video workout he posted and then linking a tweet suggesting he should officially retire as a Laker. Below are those social media posts.

For now, all this should be taken lightly. The attention is on Marc who will be looking to win another NBA title with the Lakers.

If he achieves that, it would place the Gasol brothers into the record books once more like siblings who have played for the same franchise and win NBA titles in different eras with the same team.

This was something suggested in a separate post. Aside from that, Marc could equal the two championships Pau has under his belt.

Should, for some reason, Pau Gasol be granted a one-year deal, it would give the 40-year-old player a chance to win another NBA title to raise his count to three.

But the sweet thing about it is seeing him win one is that he would be on the same team as his younger brother.
