KEY POINTS

  • The Golden State Warriors are last in the Western Conference
  • The Warriors have a chance to draft a high-quality player in the upcoming draft
  • James Wiseman of the Memphis Tigers is a suitable choice for the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors were one of the most dominating teams in the NBA. For the past few years, the Warriors have entered the Finals in five consecutive seasons. The duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson accompanied by hard-working teammates has spearheaded the franchise into success. The addition of Kevin Durant turned them into a juggernaut of a team.

The injuries, however, took its toll on the team as the amount of time spent on the court showed its effects. Durant jumped ship to the Brooklyn Nets and is currently recovering from a torn Achilles. Thompson is rehabilitating from his left knee ACL injury and is expected to miss the entire season. Curry is expected to return in the next couple of months but he has also missed a large chunk of the season. He’s been nursing a broken hand but is on pace to come back strong.

The Warriors have done some changes in their roster this year. They acquired former All-Star D’Angelo Russell in the offseason to compensate for the injuries. This, however, did not last long as they traded him away for the services of former number one overall pick Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins is expected to play as a versatile defender and an athletic scorer for the Bay Area.

With the team slowly recovering this season, they also have a shot to get a valuable rookie in the upcoming draft lottery. The Warriors are currently last in the Western Conference with a 12-43 standing. With the Splash Brothers coming in healthy next season with Wiggins and Draymond Green in the picture, the Warriors can opt to add muscle in the center position.

James Wiseman from out of the Memphis Tigers basketball program can fill that role as he is compared to Joel Embiid. Standing at seven foot one, the big man out of Memphis can easily stuff the stat sheet. He is a walking double-double and is tallying 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. He is scouted to have impressive footwork and mobility, a good fit for the fast-paced action of the Golden State Warriors.
