  • The Spurs are expected to buy out Goran Dragic, who is rumored to be moving to the Mavs
  • Dragic is likely to end up as Luka Doncic’s chief reliever in Dallas
  • The NBA offseason does not look promising for Dragic unless he comes out with a good postseason performance

The Toronto Raptors finally found a way to cut ties with Goran Dragic, someone who did not appear to be interested to be there in the first place.

The Raptors sent the 35-year-old guard along with a protected 2022 first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Thaddeus Young and Drew Eubanks along with a 2022 second-round pick, ESPN reported.

But it appears only Young will be sticking around with Adrian Wojnarowski revealing through sources that Eubanks will be waived by the Raptors.

As for the Spurs, Dragic is not expected to stay in San Antonio. The Spurs will reportedly negotiate a buyout with Dragic next according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

There are at least four teams interested in adding the All-Star guard. That list includes the Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Clippers.

But of those mentioned teams, the Dallas Mavericks are being singled out as the favorites to sign the Slovenian guard, who is likely to serve as a backup to Luka Doncic for the rest of the season.

Regardless of which team he ends up with and how the season ends, Dragic’s future is not looking so good.

He is due $19.4 million this season and all that is bound to be settled soon with the Spurs.

At any rate, Dragic is likely to settle for a minimum deal for the rest of the 2021-22 season.

Since moving over from the Miami Heat, Dragic has played only five games for the Raptors.

He managed to produce only eight points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in those appearances, numbers that will hardly attract attention.

But then again, he could improve on those figures. The only possible way for him to jack up his numbers is if he gets an extensive playing time.
