KEY POINTS

  • Gordon Hayward is reportedly open to moving to another team this offseason
  • NBA teams may be wary of taking in Hayward due to his injury history
  • The Hornets have not shown any indication of wanting to move Hayward

Gordon Hayward has been through a lot since entering the NBA in 2010.

He had his best years with the Utah Jazz, but somehow things turned sour from there.

At the moment, the 32-year-old forward is focusing on allowing his injured foot to heal.

He missed the play-in game of the Charlotte Hornets, a match that they eventually lost to the Atlanta Hawks, 132-103.

The 6-foot-7 cager is just in the second year of his $120 million, four-year deal with Hornets.

However, Hayward is allegedly open to a change of scenery once his foot heals, Jake Fischer of the Bleacher Report reported.

The only question is which team would be open to acquiring the No. 9 overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft.

His injury history leaves a lot to be desired, failing to justify the big money he is being paid.

Add to the fact that the Hornets appear to be buzzing with their young stars. LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges have come into their own.

Aside from the two youngsters, Terry Rozier appears to have found his groove and has been shining for the Hornets.

There is no telling if the Hornets will keep Hayward who has played only a total of 93 games for Charlotte.

The Indiana native has proven to be reliable when he's in excellent form, owning career averages of 15.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 734 games.

Hence, it makes sense that he prefers to focus on getting healthy first and then ponder if he will stay on with the Hornets or explore a move to other teams.

The future of Hayward will be at the hands of the Hornets, likely one of the assessments they are expected to do this summer.

However, the chances of seeing the All-Star move to another team could gain ground if he pushes for an NBA trade to a willing taker.
