Kevin Durant’s free agency is becoming a saga similar to Bryce Harper and Manny Machado in Major League Baseball (MLB) earlier this year with reports going back and forth about whether he will leave Golden State Warriors or not. And if the small forward leaves, which team will he pick – the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Clippers or Brooklyn Nets.

The Warriors forward is widely expected to leave the Bay Area team regardless of the outcome in the 2019 NBA Finals where his current team is facing the Toronto Raptors. The Knicks are said to be favorites and Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher has added further credence to the claim by revealing that Durant has bought a home in New York – the city of two of his potential suitors.

It was revealed earlier in May that Durant had put up his house in Oakland for sale. But that did not raise any red flags as many of his teammates are planning to do the same owing to the Warriors moving into a new arena in Mission Bay, San Francisco next season. But Bucher’s admission that the two-time NBA Finals MVP has bought a house in New York certainly gives weight to all the Knicks talk that has been going around in recent months.

“The reigning two-time Finals MVP has not only recently put his house up for sale in the Bay Area, but he’s also bought a new place in New York,” Bucher told Colin Cowherd on FS1’s “The Herd”. “Multiple Golden State Warriors players are currently putting their houses up for sale because of the franchise set to move into a new arena next season that will be located on the other side of the Bay.”

“The timing of an impending free agent selling real estate in one city and buying some in another across that just so happens to be in a city with two teams that covet him during a time that just so happens to be a month before free agency is too much of a coincidence to ignore,” Bucher added.

Meanwhile, FS1 NBA insider Chris Broussard believes Durant’s Game 5 appearance against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference semifinals will be his last game for the Warriors. The forward is currently sidelined with a calf injury and while the team expects him to return during the NBA Finals, the insider is of the opinion that he will not be fit in time to make one final bow and help his team.
