NBA Rumors: Klay Thompson May Play Role In 'Space Jam 2'

Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors is reportedly set to be a part of the upcoming movie "Space Jam 2."

According to The Bleacher Report, Jason McIntyre of Fox Sports Radio, who claims to know Thompson and his father well, tweeted that the Warriors star is now “locked in” for a role in the movie. McIntyre even said that he thinks Thompson has a "legit chance” of being included in the cast.

The 29-year-old NBA All-Star is expected to be one of the Monstar, the main protagonist in the first "Space Jam" movie. The infamous Monstars are best known for their incredibly muscular bodies and for playing dirty tricks on Michael Jordan and the rest of the Tunesquad.

Should the Thompson and "Space Jam 2" news turn out to be true and if he really does play the role of a Monstar, it is nice to imagine a Monstar splashing baskets from way downtown, something that is not part of the basketball skills of the vicious creatures in the first movie.

"Space Jam 2" will star LeBron James, but there are no official announcements yet regarding who among the premiere NBA stars today will be included in the final cast. The movie is said to start filming this summer.

Behind the big screen rumors lies a harsh truth in Thompson’s current situation. Just after the game 4 loss to the Raptors, sources claimed that “irritation grew” inside the Warriors locker room as some of the players were frustrated. According to reports, they “didn’t understand” why Kevin Durant did not play in game 4 despite other players, including Thompson, managing to play despite being not 100 percent healthy, The Bleacher Report noted.

Thompson had an injury as well, but with the help of the Warriors medical team, he bounced back to play in a must-win game 4 of the series. Unfortunately, Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors still succeeded in limiting the Warriors offense to win the game 105-92.

The Raptors handed the Warriors one of their lowest scoring playoff game in that one-sided game 4. Raptors are now one win away from winning the 2019 NBA Finals with a 3-1 series lead.

Thompson is confident that his injury will not affect him heading into game 5 back in Toronto, but it is hard to predict if his hamstring issues will not bother him along the way.
