  • Kuzma says NBA trade talks are now less stressful
  • Kuzma brushes off trade talk, opts to enjoy Lakers run
  • Lakers could still trade Kuzma in the future

Kyle Kuzma of the Los Angeles Lakers has not exactly been having a great season. Nevertheless, the 20-year-old has struggled to blend in with the new-look Lakers after starting the season with an injury. He admits that the whole thing remains stressful although not at the same level when the purple and gold were on the losing end.

"It's a lot less stressful going home every night when you win than when you are losing," Kuzma said to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. "It brings a lot more joy to you."

By now, the 27th overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft is used to being the subject of trade talk. Last season, he was part of a potential blockbuster deal involving Anthony Davis. As most know by now, nothing went down at the time. In fact, both ended up as teammates. Turns out that things haven't changed with critics now singling him out as the odd man in the mix.

Before the 2019-20 NBA season started, the Lakers were looking for a third superstar. And there were several names mentioned, Kuzma said in an interview with ESPN that he is capable of being that guy. He also added that he was not a ball-dominant guy, feeling it would be easier for him to play alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The good news for Kuzma is that there have been no official talks about a possible trade involving him. The Lakers are lording it over the Western Conference with a 24-6 record and have little reason to make roster tweaks.

The 6-foot-8 power forward is far from the same player who made an impression last season. It was seen as one of the reasons why Kuzma is the sole remaining young guy from the past years. The Lakers are on a losing streak right now, mainly because James and Davis have been missing games.

Despite a great NBA season, Kuzma's future remains up in the air. He could be kept or eventually traded if Lakers management deems it fit. The only question now is when will that NBA trade trigger be pulled.
