The Los Angeles Lakers have gone through a lot this offseason, and just recently, the franchise apparently hired Jason Kidd to possibly lure in Giannis Antetokounmpo as a replacement for LeBron James in the future.

The Lakers are truly a team to watch out for each season. It is not surprising for basketball fans if the team goes through some drama this offseason, especially with the way the purple and gold ended despite all the hard work LeBron James and the rest of the team put in.

But a more buzz-worthy insight has just hit the Internet concerning the Lakers' management decisions. It has been reported that the franchise hired NBA All-Star veteran Jason Kidd to apparently do a very important and bizarre task of persuading his former player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, to play for the Lakers.

A reliable source told ESPN's Steve Popper that Kidd was chosen by the Lakers to be part of the coaching staff to help them convince Antetokounmpo to play for the team as soon as the Greek Freak reaches free agency, reported Yahoo Sports.

While bringing Kidd to the Lakers is mainly to persuade Antetokounmpo, another idea suggested that having Antetokounmpo in the Lakers is the management's big contingency plan should the current Lakers star LeBron opt out in 2021-22 season, which is possible as part of James' contract with the Lakers is a $41 million player option for that specific year. With that being said, Kidd technically has two years to make the massive deal possible, according to Bleacher Report.

Relatively, the reason for the said bizarre idea is to take advantage of the fact that Kidd and Giannis have had a great time working with each other during the former's coaching stint with the Milwaukee Bucks. Kidd played a very significant role in Giannis’ very remarkable improvement as a player.

It is yet to be confirmed that the Lakers are really looking for a plan B at this stage, but the idea of bringing a superb talent like Giannis to the team can truly turn heads and open a variety of suspicions.

Currently, Giannis and the Bucks are set to face Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors back in Toronto for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals Series. Reports said that Giannis has incurred an injury during the hard fought loss in Game 5.
